Region Overview

Near Zion National Park there are two distinct fly fishing options; higher elevation (above 5,500 ft.) streams and lakes to the northeast of the park for wild trout and high desert bass fishing to the west. Either direction, Fremont River Guides will get you on the water, away from crowds and into your element. Anglers can assume a quality angling experience upon setting expectations with their specific guide.

Planning Ideas & Timing

March & April – Meet your guide by driving 45 minutes from west Zion/Mt Carmel to Panguitch, Utah and from there several great options exist.  From east Zion/Springdale/Virgin, drive 1.5 hours to meet your guide in Beaver.

May to July – The prime season allows us numerous options, active fish and memorable days on the water.  Early morning departures produce the best results and mid-day will slow down with afternoon temperatures.  Evenings are amazing on high elevation stream waters with prolific Caddis and Mayfly emergences.

August to September – Better fishing requires early mornings or late evenings, higher elevations almost exclusively and a bit more patience.  Guides generally avoid mid-day temperatures which is why we recommend half day guided trips.

September to November –  Prime season is back and so are the active trout.  Similar time frame to spring are driving 45 minutes from west Zion/Mt Carmel to Panguitch, Utah and from there several great options exist.  From east Zion/Springdale/Virgin, drive 1.5 hours to meet your guide in Beaver.

December to February – Mild winter weather patterns may allow us to book guided fishing on short notice.
